Decisions — The Psychology Behind Every Move at the Table

Episode 8 of Cheating at Blackjack
Every night at the table came down to decisions — dozens of them, made in seconds, each one carrying real weight. Not just "should I hit or stand," but decisions that determined whether we walked away with the money or walked away in handcuffs.

Episode 8 goes deep into the theory behind those choices — the psychological calculations running constantly beneath the surface of an ordinary-looking blackjack game.

Every decision had two audiences.
The pit boss watching for anything unusual. And the outcome itself — did the play actually work. Every choice we made had to satisfy both at once: look completely natural to anyone watching, while still executing exactly what needed to happen.

Confidence versus overconfidence.
One of the sharpest lines in this business. Enough confidence to execute cleanly under fire— not enough to get sloppy, complacent, or convinced you're untouchable. That line moved constantly, and reading it correctly, decision after decision, was the actual skill.

When to walk away.
Not every night. Not every table. Knowing when a play wasn't going to work — before it went wrong, not after — was as important as any move at the table itself.
This episode isn't about a single big score. It's about the accumulated weight of hundreds of small, calculated decisions that had to go right, night after night, for four years straight.
