People ask me why I stopped. It wasn't one single moment. It was three things, all pointing in the same direction and not a good direction! I had won a ton of money in the Las Vegas casinos. My Mentor Got Arrested The man who taught me more about this world than anyone else — the person who shaped how I thought about the work itself — got popped. Not because he wasn't good enough. He was one of the best there ever was. He got arrested because somewhere along the way, he trusted the wrong person. That's not a small detail. Skill was never the thing that got people caught in this business. Trust was. And watching someone that talented go down reminded me that no amount of ability protects you from a bad read on a person. I'd Had a Good Run By that point, I'd had years of real success — plays that worked, money made, a reputation earned the hard way. I'd already gotten more out of this than most people ever would. There's a version of this story where I keep pushing, keep chasing one more score, one more play. That's not the version I wanted. I Knew It Was Just a Matter of Time The math doesn't lie, even if you don't want to hear it. Every additional play is another chance of getting caught. Stay in long enough, and eventually the odds catch up with everyone. I didn't want to find out the hard way what "eventually" actually looked like. Putting It Together None of these three things alone would have been enough to make me walk away. Together, they were impossible to ignore. My mentor's arrest showed me what the end could look like. The good run gave me something worth protecting instead of risking. And the math reminded me that time was never actually on my side. I wanted to be able to say, decades later, that I never got caught. And I can say that. It's the truth. Watch more on Cheating at Blackjack
